New big update

All the source code for Sportaxy platform was updated to the newest technologies.
Previously only the server-side code was upgraded.

Now all the client side code was upgraded to using the major ES6 features. Webpack was added to bundles the assets for client side.

This changes actually touched every single line of code, so it might created some unexpected behaviors. If you believe something works incorrectly, let us know and we'll fix it!

Export of events as ICS/iCal file

Long waited feature for many people.

You can export now your future events (plans and competitions) as .ics files and to add them to a calendar program you use (iCal, Google Calendar, etc.). We export nearest 60 plans and 20 competitions starting from the current date.

Here is what I did for myself.

1. I exported calendar data from Sportaxy. I've got a .ics file and clicked on it.

2. I created a calendar "Sportaxy" in my iCalendar (on Mac) program and used it for sportaxy events:

Enjoy! Hope it's a useful feature for you!!

New improvements: From/To for events and Share

Added several features that were long requested.

Now for every event you can specify when it started (from) and when it finished (to).
The order of events in a calendar will be adapted automatically.
(This info is extracted automatically from uploaded files)

You can also share events on Facebook/Google+/Twitter. But you have to make them public first.

New version of polarpersonaltrainer supported

Polar introduced new changes to their exported files.

Now Sportaxy can extract these new file format and process the heart rate and elevation.
I also asked polar to add latitude and longitude to these files so that the position on the map can be tracked.

Here is how it works:

I. Extract an xml file from polar

II. Upload the xml file to Sportaxy and add workouts

III. Open the created event and click on "View" button

IV. See you heart rate and elevation. I hope polar will add latitute/longitude soon.

Small improvements for file upload

When you upload a file, you can
1. directly remove exercises if they are not needed
2. Input the description

Added support for Polar Personal Trainer fileuploads.

If you use a new version of polar device, it sends your data to polarpersonaltrainer.com. You can export the file as an *.xml file and upload it to sportaxy.

Make sure you set your training zones in polarpersonaltrainer same as in Sportaxy.

Plus several small bugs fixed!

Sharing of events on Facebook and other social networks

Want to share your events on Facebook?

This is how it works:
1. Make your event public "Visibility: Public"

2. Click on the "View event" button that will open your event

3. Copy the url of the event and add it on Facebook.
You should see something like this

Copy events from your friends

You can now copy events from the calendars of your friends into your own calendar.

For example, I see a race event in the calendar of my friend "Marathon Lausanne". I also want to do it, so I just click to open the context menu and choose "Copy to my calendar". I go back to my calendar and it's there.

You can do it with other events: plans, workouts, etc.

NodeJS for Sportaxy

This weekend I put into production the new NodeJS framework for Sportaxy that I was working on for some time now. Basically the site consists now of two parts:
1. new part is implemented in NodeJS
2. the old part is in Rails

I will be gradually rewriting the old Rails part in the new framework. I m also doing many visual changes and adding some new functionality, so for some time there might be some inconsistencies between old and new interface and, maybe, slowness in page loading.

If you see any bugs or problems, please let me know...
